Hello!
I'm new to this forum, and having read some of your posts have been very helpful. I wonder if someone has had any bad experiences with lentils? I am a little suspicious of eating them. The white coating on my tongue seems to increase, and I also seem to crave lentils in a way that I formerly craved coffee and sweets. Most books on candida seem to say that lentils are ok, but I have also read advice that one should be careful with them, since they say lentils contain a large amount of carbonhydrates. Best, Olof |

Olof -
Have you seen the foods list? http://wholeapproach.com/downloads/WholeApproach_Food_List.pdf check out lentils - The Green & Brown lentils are listed as OK BUT the Red lentils are a limit. I too had a problem with my lentil soup until I realized I used red/pink lentils for the soup - I got really thirsty and thought about carbs all the time for the rest of the day. Could just be the kind you are trying. Plus, 1/2 c. cooked is a serving. It's easy to eat too much. Chris |

Welcome Olof,
The red lentils are high in starch as Chris says. And, just because brown and green lentils are not high in starch and so do not feed candida does not make them a perfect food for you. Listening to your body, experimenting with different foods and different ways of preparing or cooking the foods will lead you to enhanced awareness of what is right for your body. Good luck with your experiments Olof! Have you visited our Getting Started section to read our Welcome page and introductory information? I'm here Tuesdays and Fridays to answer questions about our program. Let me know if I can help elucidate anything you read here. Take care, Tarilee |
