does anyone know of any natural PMS helpers? a particular tea or supplement? All my life I've never had painful periods or really any menses related problems, until i got married 5 months ago.For some reason, actually living with a man has thrown me off. Now every period I get horrible cramps,bloating,fatigue...and worst of all....i feel like a monster.I cry for no reason , I'm angry for no reason, and the only thing that helps is my period ending...and then I'm back to my normal , happy self hoppingmad.(luckily my hubby is very understanding... Big Grin Now, I know to most of you this probably sounds normal...but this is all new to me! my friends say 'just take midol'...but I have had an allergic reaction to literally every painkiller and pms 'drug' I've ever tried. what can I do?

Hi SS,

There are many hormonal balancing supports available but one of the most important strategies is getting past the worst of the die off and detoxification processes that can cause acute sensitivities early on. Your hormones may balance themselves.

In the meantime, I'd approach hormone balancing with caution as it's easy to make things worse. There are some great supports like B complex vitamins and an essential fatty acid blend containing some GLA taken all month and a PMS herb blend (ideally organic whole herb plus organic extract) taken one to two weeks pre menstrually.

Some folks with serious imbalances might take Vitex herb and or DIM every day but it's not likely going to be necessary if you're system is clean and you're stronger. Avoiding caffeine is important as caffeine will worsen all of the hormone issues.

For now, if you want to add something that will balance you gently, two very simple, gentle things you could try would be red raspberry leaf tea all month (more at PMS time) and a homeopathic blend for PMS once the symptoms come on.

Good luck!

Source Naturals has DIM and organic Vitex or Vitex extract (also known as Chaste Tree Berry) is sold by many companies.
