My complimentary doctor recommended candacure for recurrent bacterial vagnosis. I purchased it and there are 6 in the package. How long does one use this product. It can get pretty expensive.
Just wondered if any else used it. |

It's expensive, even with the excellent prices that Whole Approach offers.
It may be one week to several weeks, to, in a chronic need like with Sharon's ongoing antibiotic treatment, months. I hope this is a helpful remedy for you. Many of our members swear by it. Take care, Tarilee |

Hey Maryann,
I presume you're talking about CandaClear? I don't believe I'm familiar with Candacure. If you are referring to CandaClear, then I can share my experiences. Personally, it's helped me tremendously. I have had years of continued vaginal infections -- vaginal yeast infections, vaginal bacterial infections (i.e., bacterial vaginosis). Sometimes having both infections at once. And those infections kept coming back. What's helped me more than any of the prescription medications for these conditions that I've tried is using the CandaClear. I also use the Yeast Arrest too and sometimes herbal vaginal suppositories or vitamin E vaginal suppositories. I've been using these products as needed for over 2 years. For bacterial vaginosis, sometimes women have to use up to 4 boxes to build up a sufficient population in the vagina of the beneficial acidophilus that is in the product. So, I just thought I'd let you know that sometimes it can take between 1-4 boxes (i.e., 24 suppositories in total) to conquer the bacterial vaginosis with CandaClear. I never needed to use that many boxes in a row. I had welcome relief the very first time with 1-2 boxes, if memory serves. I just used one suppository every night for about 1 1/2 weeks or so. I don't even think I needed to use the entire second box that first time. And yes, it is expensive. I know in my own case , despite the high cost, it turns out to be much cheaper for me then spending money to go to the Gyn for repeated office visits and repeated vaginal cultures for the same recurring infections. My infections had been so bad and long-standing that I had found myself in the doctors office about once a month. I'm also saving money from prescription medications that never seemed to eradicate my problem completely. Years ago when I was in the throws of "nether region" vaginal infection hell with chronic infections that would not go away, I did a bunch of research on this issue. I found out about the products and took my research and the products to the doctors that had been trying to heal me. They were so impressed with the results that I had, they have been recommending the products to their patients. Last I heard from them, the majority or most of the patients have had success. Some, like me, still need to use them occasionally for maintenance. I've blabbed alot about this product on here. You can do a search under my name if you're inclined to read any of it. I'd be interested to hear if you find relief with this product. It always helps to hear other's experiences. All the best, Sharon p.s. As Tarilee said, I'm still using this product on an "as needed" basis because I'm currently in long term antibiotic treatment for some nasty bacterial infections (Lyme Disease). I think I'm using it now on an average of perhaps only 2 days a week or so for maintenance. I need to replenish the healthy bacteria that the antibiotics are killing in me. So I'm having to load up by taking oral probiotics and using a the vaginal probiotic suppository, CandaClear. |

Thanks for the reply Sharon
Sorry for the typo I did mean candaclear. I been plagued by vaginal bacterial infections most of my adult life and my problem always seems to present itself a day or two after intercourse. Been tested for everything you can imagine and my traditional doctor is at a lose. After going to my alternative doctor and being diagnosis with candida while I definitely don't have a vaginal yeast infection he seems to think that I am so sensitive that intercourse causes an imbalance of the right bacteria and he is the one who suggested candaclear. This time around it wasn't so bad probably because I have been on a gluten/sugar free diet along with supplements and anti fungal meds but I didn't want it to get out of hand. I have only used it for two days so it is hard to tell. But I will use two boxes and let you know. Thanks again Maryann |

Hi Maryann,
Well, I'm sorry you're having to endure this. Your situation sounds familiar -- I've had to deal with it as well. I remember how distressing it was. And the doctors at the time didn't have any answers. I used to get flares of bacterial vaginosis ("BV") after intercourse and also after my periods. From the reading I did, I learned that this is very common. The healthy vagina has an acidic Ph balance. Lots of things can upset that acidic balance and turn the vaginal environment into an alkaline environment. It's the alkaline environment, plus a reduction or lack of healthy vaginal flora (lactobacilli) that can leave us vulnerable to BV. Some of the things that are known to have an alkalanizing (sp?) effect on the vagina are: menstruation, pre-ejaculate and ejaculate, poor diet, chlorinated water used in swimming pools, shower water and bathwater, and sometimes for some unknown reason just the physical act of intercourse - even when condoms are used. So the aim in treatment is to boost our immune systems through diet and supplements, for example. Then we need to try and maintain the acidic balance in the vagina. Treat any bacterial infections. Finally we need to restore a healthy population of healthy vaginal flora (lactobacilli) -- this is what the CandaClear product will do. Most women with recurring BV have been found to have low populations of lactobacilli. And ultimately it's a healthy population of vaginal lactobacilli that is supposed to keep the vagina at the healthy acidic Ph and keep infection away. The first time I tried the products, I used Yeast Arrest for a couple of weeks and then followed with using that 1 1/2 week's worth of CandaClear. At that time my infection was heavy enough that I needed to try to get the bacterial/yeast load down first -- that is, the CandaClear wasn't enough for me. That's what I used the Yeast Arrest for. It's helpful with BV too -- not just yeast. Then I repopulated the lactobacilli with CandaClear. For what it's worth, I still have to use products during the end of my period for a couple of days and immediately after intercourse to acidify. Hope that's not too much information to share! I alternate what I use depending on what I feel I need. Sometimes I'll use Yeast Arrest suppository (which will acidify the vagina and also has two healing herbs which are good for infection), sometimes I'll use just a CandaClear suppository. I also decided to put a dechlorinating shower filter on my shower head. I think its cost was about $30-40. Being able to bathe in shower water without chlorine has helped alot too. I also switched bath soap to a more natural-type soap without alot of chemicals and additives in it. And I also switched laundry detergents to a detergent that was free of dyes and perfumes. And I had to switch feminine hygiene products to natural, cotton pads because the tampons and pads I had been using were filled with chemicals from processing. All of these things were exacerbating my BV infections and sending me over the edge. This might not be the case with you. But you might find that after you try the CandaClear and find it helps, you might want to use it after intercourse and a day or two after your period for awhile to make sure that the BV stays away. And if you don't see results with the CandaClear at first, there are other things that you can try before returning to try the CandaClear. Just give me a holler here and I can share more, if needed. Hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon, Sharon |

Sharon,
I appreciate all the information you have provided, nothing is too much. It is a tough subject to discuss especially with anyone who doesn't have the kind of imbalances we do. I am just so grateful I finally found a doctor who validates candida. My sister and boyfriend have been so supportive. My yeast infection is intestinal so I was extremely sick for over a year with no help from traditional doctors. Of course they all said IBS and while IBS is a real symptom they only treat the symptoms and not the cause. Along with what I already told you I am doing I am also taking immune building and adrenal support supplements. And while I am so much better I am far from cured and I am committed to do all that is necessary. This site has been so helpful with all the information and especially the recipes. By the way I found candaclear for $14.00 a box on Myhealthstore.com. Just an FYI. Maryann |
