Hi everyone! I'm new here and was diagnosed with systemic candida. I have been trolling your website looking for help with my issues and appreciate the recipes. I am still waiting on products to get to me so I can make some of them.
I have depleted the vitamins out of my body and blew my cortisol/adrenals out too...working too much after a long illness. My doctor told me no work and lots of vitamins, supplements to get better. Now I'm sitting at home and lonely. Day in and out the same and bored to death. Trying to think of things to do to take up my time and not burn me out. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone struggle with feeling constantly full with reflux. I don't want to eat at all. I live on Pepcid and peppermint tea. Any suggestions? Thanks for any assistance! I really, really appreciate you guys! pollyanna

Hi PA--

Believe me, I know how you feel. I was so sick with candida a few years back that I barely left my house for months. In fact, if you pull up my posts in the archives you'll see that I pretty much spent all my time online to keep busy, and the rest of it in bed. It was not an easy thing to go through.

I also had really bad reflux gastritis --and I can honestly say that taking care of my candida issues, and changing my diet, took care of that problem in short order.

While you're waiting for your products to arrive, you may want to start trying out some of the recipes here to keep busy, if you have the energy--or just posting or writing to friends.

i know how difficult of a time this can be, but I also know from experience it's possible to make it back and move forward out of your illness.

Take very good care of yourself and try to be patient with the process... hearthrob

Thanks for answering. I believe the reflux is due to the new flours I'm trying to use. I am trying to eat too much and not drinking enough fluids with it. Also, I'm used to more fruits in my diet to keep things moving.
I am finding things to do...it's slow going, but better. I started a jigsaw puzzle and yes, I'm working on the recipes. A couple have been flops, but helps the learning process. Such a tough time with economy to be pouring stuff out, too. Oh well, I'm sure it will get better. I am feeling better, not as tired, so maybe will get more active around the house.
As for my friends they are all busy people and I spent my first few days off talking to them. Actually, the closest person to me is the 80 yr old neighbor lady. She's home all the time, too.
Thanks again I appreciate you all so much. pollyanna

Hello!

I'm new to this site too!

Yes, it is very annoying that most of my friends are busy working, & I sometimes get odd glances or questions or such for not doing so... (I'm in a small town, so people talk too.. ugh)

Luckily, Smile I also had a back injury last summer, & people somehow find it easier to understand that!! (& most often keeps me from having to explain further!)

The backache was also a good factor to eliminate wheat & bread especially from my diet!! (I was the biggest bread-eater in the house before that, & struggled to think of healthier alternatives cause I suspected Candida for at least half a year before that...!!) I had a big relapse of backache inbetween New Year's, & felt like crap! (No wonder why!) Someone online told me that her injury-related pains lessened after a gluten-free diet, & that was rice mainly, & not much else, soo... LOL

What I did for 3 months or so, was basically always have a big pot of brown rice & a big pot of beans, & one of sauerkraut, in my fridge!! & any time I got hungry (or my family cooked something inedible for me!), it was easy to go & get food!! Lunch - biggest meal here - I usually ate with the rest of the family (when I was feeling worst, Dad & Sis cooked.. When I was okay-ish, I helped.. I made sure to have leafy greens each day - Magnesium helps detox!!)

Now, I'm trying to add variety & raw foods (to prevent any further sensitivities or such!) & that's why I find this site a Heaven Sent!! I'll be trying the recipes too!! (OoO We'll see how that goes!!)

Have you been taking notes after which foods you got the reflux? I usually felt worst if I mixed something really odd together from leftovers or such.. & if I didn't eat enough protein to 'stabilize' me & my blood sugar.. &/Or if I ate too much oil/fat! (in that case sometimes a walk & 'burning' the energy helped!)
My daily walks (essential to prevent backache!) really improved my energy levels too.. (though I literally had to drag myself at first to go, & could only make it for a very short distance) & sometimes, you may meet someone fun on the way! - Maybe you could do it too?

YAY for feeling better overall!!

Hi Layla, Yes to many of things you are saying. I have run my body down and cannot do too much yet. Dr. said no exercise until she says so. I've been busy trying the recipes. I've thrown out a few as I said above, but getting an idea of what I can fix. I found a recipe for spaghetti sauce...sort of made it up, but used to make a lasagne years ago and looked the recipe up in the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook and found the sauce worked with a little water or veg juice to thin it a bit. Used the brown rice pasta and it was delicious! The foods I struggle the most with are the no yeast breads on the market...have to eat a small amount only. When I eat the flours they seem to stop me up, so I've been drinking a lot of fluids and eating smaller amounts. Still enjoy these, but this works better for me. I've been practicing on cookies and found the bulk pancake mix at the whole foods stores to work best for me. I use it as a base for about everything. It treats me better. I eat a lot of protein and as many vegetables as I can get in through the day. It is getting slightly easier, but there are things I miss. I just haven't had time to figure out more recipes yet. The candida is just another brick on my load that I'm taking down the road, but strength comes from many sources, so I know I will push on and get through this too. Like you I keep many items in the fridge to grab and that makes it easier. Best wishes! pollyanna

Hello Pollyanna,

I too suffer from Adrenal Failure along with the Candida. Your post made me all teary-eyed because I can literally feel your pain. I've suffered for 9 years now . I'm convinced theres a purpose to all this...I have no clue what that purpose is but I know it's going to great. Hang in there.

Hugs,
Amy

Layla, Pollyana, Amy,

Welcome ALL of you to the site!

I'm glad you're here, reading and talking to each other. I don't have a lot to offer except to suggest that you do read up on the intro information here as well as doing the food diary like Layla suggested.

There are some articles I'll post links to here in hopes that you may glean some helpful tidbits from them!

I work from home and I can relate to feeling lonely when I'm too busy to get out. I live a distance from others. The net and the phone are life savers!

This is to Amy and anyone else with the adrenal problems. I was a very active woman (raised on a farm and always worked hard) and now my doctor says if I work at all, it will be behind a desk. I find myself depressed and lonely after tons of fun every day going to work...I was one of those girls that loved my job and the people around me. I still visit when up to it. My goal is to find a job behind a desk that I can love just as much, but first I must get my body back, so to all of you, HANG IN THERE! I believe we will come back; and will follow doctors orders to do so. That means using the products here and taking it slow. I already feel so much better. I'm actually awake all day now. Amazing! Thanks to this forum, I was able to open my mind to different foods and recipes to help my body. Thank you Tarilee and any others for giving us something wonderful to eat. My mind is a flurry coming up with new ideas on the old recipes I have. It's getting better every day. Best wishes, pollyanna

Hi Pollyanna,

I understand the feeling of limitations. I just want to encourage you not to allow others to impose these limitations on you. Set your own dreams and work towards them. Your body will listen to your beliefs. If it really is not right for you to follow your dreams, you will know it in your heart.

Take care and keep up the great work in the kitchen,

Tarilee

PS Yoga stretches stimulate the immune system especially the lymphatic system and can improve mood as well. Really, really determined yet mindfully aware stretches are the best!
