Withypoll,
Welcome to the forum! I think tea tree oil can make condoms less effective. At least Tarilee has warned in the past to be careful of that when you use the Kolorex cream (made with tea tree oil) - you need to wait for a while before knowing that it won't affect the condoms. It is unknown of how long to wait, but she said just to be aware of how long the oils stay on you after you are done using it - you need to wait until the oils seem to be gone. Try a search for Kolorex and condoms, or something along those lines - the post should come up. Others have posted that flax gel (homemade, you can search for the recipe) or else olive oil makes a good lubricant. Hope that helps. ~Tia PS - To use the search function, go to the blue tabs at the top of the page and hit find. You can type it in right there, or else do an advanced search. |

This mind sound hokey, but I've heard of women using pure, organic coconut oil as a lubricant. What effect that would have on condoms, I haven't a clue.
There is an over-the-counter lubricant that is designed with sugar-sensitive people in mind. It's called FemGlide and it's also good for women who are prone to vaginal infections. You might want to look further on the internet for natural lubricant formulations. By the way, I've had tremendous success using boric acid treatment and also tea tree oil suppositories for vaginal infections. I suffered for 20 years with vaginal symptoms and it wasn't until I tried those treatments that I got any significant relief. Sharon |

That quote feature can sneak up on you Sharon. That's funny. I've managed to use it accidentally too!
It might make sense to contact Avanti, the manufacturers of the polyurethane condoms and read them the ingredients of any products you intend to combine with their product. As for the spermicide, this can be tricky. A combination of a cervical cap and a condom but without spermicide might be a solution for folks who are sensitive to those irritating creams and gels. I personally don't know how someone could not have a reaction to those products but then again, I'm very sensitive. Also, have you heard of the fertility monitoring computer? It's truly, incredibly liberating in its accuracy. You can check it out at: http://ladycomp-babycomp.com/show.php/en/index Best of luck, Tari-Lee |

That is one amazing little machine! It's now on my wish-list. Are there any ladies that currently use the Lady-Comp?

I just recently (I think w/i the past month or so) asked about the LadyComp-- it doesn't seem that anyone on this site has used it--- however, the LadyComp cite has ppl's email addresses -- I emailed 2 of them and they both responded saying they really liked the product, and that when it's used correctly, there have been no false positives (ie- a green light when you're not supposed to have sex w/o other protection aka fertile)-- granted, who knows if these ppl are related w/ the selling of the product, but it was somewhat helpful
I haven't taken the plunge yet as I'm still debating about all my options--- also on that thread someone recommended a book to read about your fertility and cycle, etc. (can't remember the name offhand-- maybe written by Toni W?) It explains how to chart your own cycle by taking your temperature (also by looking at your discharge, but when you have a yeast infection and other problems, I'm not sure how you can look at the discharge and tell)--- But it gave some helpful info--- LadyComp/Pearly does the same thing (a high tech thermometer w/ a computer) Hope this was helpful |

I've used the computer with great success and then I got one for my sister. She used it for contraceptive awareness for a few years until she was ready to conceive. The very first time she tried on a day that the computer told her she was fertile, she conceived. I believe the studies done on these products are excellent and the computer program does not take risks when it comes to giving green lights. It takes a few months at least before it gives you very many green days. Eventually though, it has you figured out completely. I recommend reading through all the detailed information on the site and talking to the staff if you feel it necessary. When I started to use it I called them three times and then had my partner call as well. We were very happy with what they had to say. The method is very effective and totally non invasive, non toxic.
Good luck, TLC |

By the way, their new Pearle unit is highly portable and they are making it available on a monthly payment plan that makes it as affordable financially as the pill. It's benefits to your health compared to all of the costs of the other options make it worth much, much more!

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this thread. I just looked at the LadyComp and it's so cool! I never knew anything like this existed! My husband is going to love this idea. I don't want to have another baby (we have 2 boys) but, also don't like the pill, spermicides are irritating, and nothing else is appealing either. We struggle with this issue. This just may be the answer when we can afford it. Thanks so much!!!
