Like many people I am grateful to this informative site. It has given me the most information of anywhere else.

I started having constant vaginal problems after I had an IUD implanted. I thought I did good research to find out if there were any side effects to having one but I obviously missed some very important info. So none the less my life has been heck since then!

Is there any hope of having a normal sex life again? I can't say I'm perfect on the diet but I'm trying, I purchased a sitz bath, the kolorex cream, and many other herbs but nothing is working fast enough. I don't get naturally lubricated like I used to, I itch most of the time, and sex is painful. Is there any hope? How long should I endure to see results?

Hello Lashon009, wave3

That is quite the name you have, rather James Bond like, isn't it? Wink Anyway you cannot kill systemic yeast unless you follow the diet, do a bowel cleanse and take antifungals in a systematic fashion... you have to start from the inside out. Sad to say, there is no quick fix. No

As far as how long you have to endure, that is the million dollar question....it depends on how good you are on the diet, how well you follow the protocol and how long it takes to discover the reason for your illness, for many of us it is metal toxicity and root canals as you may have read about.

Using condoms would be very advisable until the infection is cleared up and lubricate well to avoid any more irritation.

Best luck and take good care.

hi lashon, wavey2

This is just a shot in the dark, but have you considered that you might be having an allergic reaction to the IUD? I've had allergic reactions to things that have shown up in the form of vaginitis and the infections were both yeast and bacterial. I had to treat the bacterial infection and the yeast. It seems hard to comprehend, but some women do have allergic reactions in that form. Like Sandi said, some people are so sensitive to metals that it causes an overgrowth of candida and perhaps you're reacting to the metal in the IUD?

I know how dispiriting and bothersome it can be. Sometimes you want to just pull your hair out and other times you want to just sit and cry.

And I'd recommend that you read the labels of any lubricant that you use. Some on the market (like the KY that all the gyn's use for exams) can irritate yeast. There's a product called, FemGlide that is glycerine, sugar and petroleum free. That might feel kinder to your body right now and it won't feed the yeast, I don't think.

I hope you start feeling better soon.

Hugs,
Sharon hearthrob

And yes, as Sharon mentions, it could very well be the IUD, if you still have it. I had one and got pelvic inflammatory disease from it, that was the "copper 7", it was called. And now from what I have learned just recently, I think it was reacting to the mercury in my body, and that was almost 30 years ago. I am very surprised to learn that IUD's are still being used.

I had the IUD removed about two years ago but the problems remained. I've taken Metronidazole which seems to clear things up for a little bit but because it's an antibotic I seem to get a yeast infection afterward.

It sounds like you're on that all too common merry go round journey of treating a yeast related problem with anti-biotic and then experiencing a worsening of the yeast problem. Antibiotics are a big contributor to CRC. Perhaps when you had the IUD your problems were related to it but then repeated antibiotic usage has contributed to a deeper issue? Do you think you could have systemic yeast?

I see you registered some time ago and if you posted I've likely welcomed you already but it doesn't look like you have so I'll include our welcome post link for you (and WELCOME to our forum by the way! Smile. If you've got systemic yeast problem that has more than one manifestation then it's what we refer to as CRC or, Candida Related Complex. If you go to the welcome link you'll be guided though an introduction to all the information, products and other resources (including a customizable candida reduction food therapy program.)

What Sandi says is true, that if you have developed systemic yeast or CRC, then you will need to address it from the inside out in order to make real progress. Once you’ve had a chance to look through our forum sections you’ll likely have more questions. Don’t forget to check out the candida questionnaire and the Diagnosing Candida post in the Getting Started section.

Here’s the link to the Welcome post. I’m here again next Friday so please do ask if there is some information I can help you with. In the meantime, hopefully there will be other folks around here to answer some of your questions.

Welcome to our forum

And, just in case you have trouble finding it, here's the link about diagnosing candida:

Diagnosing Candida and the Candida Symptom Assessment Questionnaire

Take good care,

Tari-Lee

lashon,
I haven't been on the forum much lately, but just noticed your post tonight. I wanted to tell you that there is hope. It can be a long road with the vaginal issues, but things can get a lot better. I had a constant infecton for two years and now only have one when I am having die-off or I eat something totally horrible. I don't know anything about an association with the IUD though. For me the diet really seems to work well, but when I take the anti-fungals I always battle with it again. I have found a vaginal suppository that has been helpful for me. If you are interested in trying it just email me at ewmartin96@hotmail.com. Other than that I sometimes use over the counter creams (not really recommended, but I sometimes get desperate), try to eat a great diet and take lots of immune supporting supplements. The sitz baths are also something that helped me a lot especially after intercourse. Ambrotose was discussed recently on the forum and that is also a product that has helped me tremendously. I was having so many infections and my nutritionst put me on one teas. three times a day and three weeks later it cleared up again. I also agree with Sharon on the FemGlide. I have been using it for several years. Also for me condoms are a must!!! If you fear a latex allergy use the other ones on the market. Please let me know if I can do anything else for you. This is my main Candida symtom and I would love to help you anyway I can.
