I've been trying to have baby for five years. I started seeing a new acupuncturist a couple months ago, and he just came to the conclusion that I might have a yeast problem. I miscarried at 10 weeks two years ago, and I just lost a very very early pregnancy a couple weeks ago. He thinks the yeast is a big part of the problem. Could this be true???

Hi Leisa,
I lost my first post to you. Let me try again here. I'm very sorry for your losses. I hope that we can help you get healthier so that a successful and happy pregnancy can be in your near future. Yeast mycotoxins can create such toxicity in the body that the whole endocrine system including the reproductive hormone messages and functions are hindered. This can result in disruptions like miscarriages or infertility. Also, when mum's body is not able to provide a strong and healthfully nurturing environment for baby, it may be that the wisdom of the body steps in with the power of Mother Nature and decides, "no, this is not to be at this time"... Detoxification and immune support while you clear the yeast will help prepare your body and emotional/mental state in the best possible way for bearing a child. Here's our welcome page so you can have a look around: Whole Approach welcome post Let me know if I can clarify anything here for you. I'm back again on Friday. Take good care, Tarilee |

Thanks
I've been reading and reading and reading. I've printed out the PDF of good and bad food, and I'm jumping in. I've been on probiotics for a week, and today is my first day eating "well." I already feel like garbage, but I read that's actually a good thing, right? LOL! Hugs Leisa |

Thanks Ashley!
I'm such a carb/sugar addict that this is going to be really hard. But i'm sure it will be worth it. I've tried marcobiotic diets in the past, and I did feel better, but it was too hard to keep it up. Can I drink "fake" coffee like Postum? Or peppermint tea? I take Nutrimetrix vitamins, and they are liquid and contain a little glucose. Should I switch to something else? The whole good/bad thing is complicated! But I've had fatigue, depression, anxiety and joint pain off an on for YEARS. Been tested for Lupus, MS, RA... all negative luckily, but doctors don't know what to do with me. One week I'm fine, the next I'm a walking zombie. I gave up going to a reagular doctor, because all they would say is come back later if you still feel bad, or PMS is normal, or other shoulder-shrugging types of things. They'd do the same blood tests which would always be normal, so they assume I'm just complaining I guess... Yesterday I read about the sugar-drunk thing, and I thought it was just me. I get HYPER-CRAZY on sugar, slurred speech and all sometimes -- is that a sign that yeast is out of control? I just hope I can do this. I don't really know if I have a yeast problem or not, but the diet still sounds healthy and can do no harm. If nothing else I will lose some weight Can I take Tylenol???? Hugs Leisa |

Hi Leisa--I'm just going to post a few links to articles you may find helpful...
The first is the candida questionnaire, which may help determine whether or not yeast is indeed an issue for you: http://wholeapproach.com/diet/Candida_Questionnaire.pdf The next is a great article on cravings--it's a must read! http://wholeapproachforums.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5046011311/m/217104898 And this one is about the mental and emotional effects of eating foods we're intolerant or allergic to (I'm throwing this one in because while it may seem unrelated to what you've written at first, you'll find it's actually incredibly eye opening--at least I did!): http://wholeapproach.com/newsletter/pop200304.html I'm not aware of any coffee substitute that's really good--I know a few people have posted about this, but for me there's only one coffee bean!!! God help me I do try to stay away from it!! I hope all this helps! Take good care, Ashley |

Well, I managed to stay on the diet for a whole five days. LOL
Went to the dr for some bleeding issues, and found out I had a UTI and needed antibiotics. That mentally did me in and I went right back to eating terribly. But today I will start again!!! This was a new doc. office because the last one treated my M/C so terribly, and they seem on the ball. The NP was shocked that with a fibroid the size of mine (6cm -- grew to 9 with my PG and then went back down), I had not been told to have it removed. This could be causing my infertility, so I have an appointment in two weeks to have an ultrasound and talk with the OB. Two OBs and a reproductive endo. have told me to leave it alone. If this really is the case, I will be so MAD at the past wasted five years of frustration and sadness... Of course the bad news is if I do have surgery, then it will basically be a C-section and it will take a long recovery... But it is good incentive to get healthy, because I totally feel like garbage right now... On a lighter note... I did find a yummy coffee sub and it's called Dandy Blend. It's made with dandilions! HUGS Leisa |

Hi Leisa,
You may want to do a search on our forum under bladder infection or urinary tract infection. There are some ND alternative practices offered here as possibilities for folks who don't want abx. We ALL start again, every day. You can do better for yourself this time! Dandelion 'coffee' is my favourite replacement! Take good care ok? Start again, every hour if you have to! TLC |

Well, I definitely need surgery. The good news is there's a specialist in Baltimore who can do it laproscopically, so I won't need to have a full abdominal incision. That darn fibroid is bigger than my fist now! I guess I can't totally blame my crappy diet for my pants not fitting... LOL...
Aside from the diet guidelines here, is there anything I can do to help my body get ready and heal well? I go see the surgeon on the 19th and who knows how long I'll need to wait to get a surgery appointment, so I have some time... Hugs Leisa |

Hi Leisa,
Sounds like this represents some enlightening news and it's wonderful that you have the ability for less invasive surgery. What a relief that is! I've posted to others before about some preparations for surgery. I'll come back in a moment with some of that to offer you. Take care, TLC |

Here are some suggestions for pre and post surgical care:
The following protocol represents a typical naturopathic pre-operative surgery. Arnica homeopathic 200c and 30c: Arnica 30c once a day for three days before surgery between meals with nothing in your mouth (no flavours or food etc) Arnica 200c up to three times on day of surgery (after) and then for two days after surgery. Then switch to: 30c up to three times per day for five more days. Yellow Sun Buffered Vitamin C– (if you normally take this product, increase your dosage by 50 to 100% -pre and post surgery up to a maximum of 6000 mg)- for five days before and throughout healing and detoxification period after (at least thirty days) for immune support and tissue healing. Ask your surgeon if you need to discontinue this before the day of. Yellow Sun Buffered Vitamin C Deep Immune by Satin Francis Farm – thirty drops twice per day on empty stomach starting now and continuing at least thirty days after surgery for immune support to support healing and recovery from the anesthetic. Astragalus Deep Immune Tonic Zinc citrate 50 mg – one per day with food to help speed tissue healing and boost immunity. Start five days before surgery. Activin Plus OptiZinc Yellow Sun Docs Best Multi Vitamin/Mineral –You could stay on this indefinitely. This will give you an overall boost for your immunity and detoxification ability and help keep you strong. Yellow Sun Multi-Plus Probiotic to boost immunity, emotional/mental strength and digestive recovery from the strong anesthetic drugs. Probioplus DDS Acidophilus Daily Detox tea and potentially Milk Thistle Combo to help flush out drug toxins after surgery to shorten recovery time. Daily Detox Tea Original Daily Detox Tea II Milk Thistle Combo Tincture Possible anti-bacterial product to consider for after surgery when antibiotics are recommended –Echinaseal EchinaSeal Infection Fighting Tincture Flax oil or Udo’s Oil blend or similar quality oil blend with fish oil– 1-3 tablespoons daily with food or on food. For immune support, tissue healing, skin elasticity, cardiovascular health and more. I would also suggest this one as a daily, ongoing supplement. For wound support – rub Heel brand Traumeel cream into the site of the future surgery for three days before and as soon as open wound is healed, use after surgery. If allowable, you can use Traumeel liquid alcohol homeopathic on the wound sooner. I also can’t make claims about the above protocol and I am neither a naturopath nor a herbalist so (as always on a website), the above suggestions should be seen as information only, not recommendations. |
