I have had diffuse hair loss for 2 years and i have seen many post where others are experiencing hair loss also. i have had every blood test imaginable to determine the cause of hair loss and no doctor can figure it out because everything comes back normal. I have diffuse hairloss all over my body and my scalp gets red and i get a burning feeling,, it seems to get worse when i eat sugar and Breads along with my other symptoms like brain fog, achey joints, and burning tingling sensations in my hands. The hair loss gets better when i stick to this diet but it doesn't stop the hair loss. I had my vitamin b12 levels check and they were normal. any suggestions or has anyone experienced the same symptoms???

Alopecia totalis is hair loss on the scalp. Alopecia universalis is the loss of hair all over the body and alopecia areata is the name for hair falling out in patches.
Some hair loss is normal for men and women, especially after menopause for women. We've had a couple of members who lost hair due to tempoary thyroid problems or for unknown reasons. I do not know of a direct link between yeast and hair loss except that a yeast condition on the scalp may interfere with healthy growth. There are some drugs and some vitamin deficiencies that can cause hair loss and also some skin diseases that can contribute to it. Post partum hair loss is not uncommon and radiation exposure or surgery have been said to precipitate it at times. I wish you luck with your continued investigation into this challenge and I hope you find the intervention you need to ease the hair loss. Take good care, Tarilee |

What shampoo/products do you use? Have you considered switching to a milder shampoo, or to use water only? Or even to 'not wash' the hair - it may sound terrible, but some people over at the LongHair forums have been doing it for a while... & some found better scalp & hair health through it...
There may be a transition period when things may seem to get worse, but if you persist both the skin & hair improve... As for the hair loss, I'm not sure if anyone at those forums dealt with that... but for the scalp health, it would definitely be something to consider. Most shampoos, especially the mainstream 'commercial products' basically strip the scalp of its natural oils & may contain irritants that basically worsen any condition instead of letting the body heal itself.. I lost muuch more hair with Head&Shoulders shampoo... & now that I use no shampoo there is no scalp ezcema or irritation either... I do find my hair gets very oily if I eat sugar, others at the LongHair forums found that too... Also, excessive worry or stress can be related to hair-loss, as my ex-roommate who studied psychology told me, & I personally found that to be true too... (& of course Candida can be related to worry or such Maybe massages of the scalp could help too? (I do find my hair seems to grow quicker now) |

When you give up sugar, excessive starch and other mucous or yeast producing foods you will find your scalp much cleaner.
Detoxification in general helps too! Tarilee |
