I am experiencing thrush, but I don't think they I have systemic candidiasis, and I'm wondering what the best treatment approach is. I actually just received my order of Caprol, Bentonite, and Psyllium, along with the book, but my quandry is that except for the specific symptoms of a yeast infection in the mouth, very little applies to me.

I haven't recently had any antibiotics or drug therapy; my diet isn't high in sugar, bread, alcohol or junk food; I don't live in a particularly stressful, exhausting or moldy environment; and being a male I obviously don't take birth control hormones.

I have had a pretty good diet for a long time, and the descriptions of dietary imbalances don't really apply to me. I don't have a sweet tooth at all, and very rarely eat candy or desserts. And I don't eat much junk food, occasionally but much much less than the average American. I eat a moderate amount of bread, and what I do eat is usually whole/multi grain. And I drink alcohol moderately, often having a beer or glass of wine with dinner, but rarely more than that, and I don't particularly "crave" it.

I tend to eat a lot of fresh veggies and fruits (papayas and bananas especially, being in Hawaii), organic when possible. I also eat fruits mostly by themselves to avoid food combining problems. I eat meat but not often, and fresh fish more than anything. I use some dairy but again not a lot, I rarely drink milk by itself and I prefer rice milk on cereal (which is usually muesli or granola). I drink coffee now and then but not every day. I also take a fiber powder fairly often to help maintain healthy intestines, which contains both psyllium seed powder and FOS.

The biggest correlation I can find with my onset of thrush is that I ate a couple bowls of popcorn with nutritional yeast just before it came on, and also drank some brandy, so that probably fed the Candida and triggered it, but in general I don't seem to have a diet that is highly conducive to Candida, from what I've read.

The thrush started with a sore on the tip of my tongue, and then I realized that I was waking up with a coating on the back of my tongue, and a sort of mildly sore throat.

I did a short course of Nystatin and cut bread and yeast foods out of my diet entirely, which got rid of it, but then after a dinner of rice and Thai food it came back the next morning, and has been there ever since for a couple weeks now.

I have been taking acidophilus (and also EFAs) for the last 2 weeks, and increased the regularity of my fiber powder intake, and have tried to stick to a pretty strict anti-yeast diet.

The coating on my throat and sores in my mouth are continuing, and I was just wondering what those experienced with Candida would recommend. Is the caprol/bentonite/psyllium/acidophilus treatment program likely to rid the seemingly limited oral infection? How long might I expect the thrush to continue once I start the treatment? Is there some particular approach that is helpful in the case of thrush?

Any feedback on those questions would be most appreciated.

Oral thrush is most common in infants and adults with compromised immune systems. According to the "Body Ecology Diet", "..Colon care and cleansing are critical to healing and knowing your body and how to keep it healthy. When we say it's essential to have a clean colon, we mean one free of toxins, waste material, and parasites that accumulate on the walls, preventing the food you eat from being properly absorbed by your body. Most people have seven to ten pounds of old fecal matter in their colons, even if they have a bowel movement every day. When this accumulation is removed by various colon cleansing procedures, the body is free to absorb the essential vitamins and minerals......Disease originates in the colon. When waste cannot be properly eliminated, it accumulates in the colon and digestive tract, then the liver and kidneys, and this causes unpleasant symptoms elsewhere inthe body.." In addition to diet and colon cleansing, you could try:
*Grapefruit Seed Extract (diluted in water) to gargle and soak your tooth brush.
*Eliminate dairy products and coffee from your diet.
You may also consider seeing a doctor to eliminate other considerations regarding your immune system (AIDS, Hepatitis, etc.)
I hope this helps!
