Linda, can you help me with reintroducing foods into this diet? I have been on the strict version of the diet that you describe on the diet page of this website, for 7 months. I have eaten only meat and vegetables. Recently I added corn back into my diet with no problems. I am on an antifungal program which is beginning to show results, and I would like to add more foods back in -- namely cheese, breads, potatoes, rice, and pasta. I will still stay away from sugar and alcohol. How do you suggest adding foods back in the diet? I have no food allergies and no digestive problems. My candida manifests itself as chronic yeast infections. Any advice you can give me regarding reintroducing the above-mentioned 5 foods back into my diet would be really appreciated. Which are the most most potentially damaging, and what order should I follow for reintroduction? Thanks for your help--
maggie

If you are symptom free, you could try adding whole grains, red potoes, rice and pasta back into your diet - just don't add them all at once. You may try adding them back slowly with a four day rotation plan. This way you would be able to determine if any of these items trigger symptoms. Whole grain breads and pasta would be best. Try to avoid white flour products. Potatoes, rice and pasta should be eaten only occasionally (or not at all) while you are symptomatic and treating with antifungals. Dairy - When mucus-related problems exist - such as discharges from the nose or other body parts, frequent colds, asthma, allergies, sinus problems, tumors, cysts, constipation, yeast overgrowth, excess weight or thick tongue coating - you may consider eliminating dairy products from your diet. If you do eat dairy products occasionally, use high quality dairy products: 1. Use certified raw (organic if possible) milk products. Goats milk products are generally preferable. 2. Soured and fermented milk products such as: yogurt, kefir, buttermilk are preferred. I hope this helps!

The "strict" version of the candida diet only allows organic meat and vegetables. It's very stringent, and very tough to follow. I will be glad to leave it behind.
