Hi,

Tarilee, would you be able to comment on why we should rotate the anti-fungals every three months rather than more frequently as advised by some other protocols?

One reason I ask is that while abiding by the diet quite well (i have only had one dietary slip-up in the last two weeks) I don't think I'm prepared to give up alcohol altogether although I know that this will be feeding the yeast, making the yeast resistant to the anti-fungals and slowing my recovery.

What about if I have 4-5 gins a week (on the same day) and not take the anti-fungals that day and the next? Will this help to stop the yeast becoming resistant to the anti-fungals? I know it's like taking five steps forward and two back, but that's still three steps forward and that's better than none, right? happybounce

Under these circumstances would it be perhaps better to rotate the antifungals more often?

The main reason why I'm not prepared at this stage to make the lifestyle change to totally give up alcohol is that while I've got alot of symptoms, they're relatively mild apart from anxiety, fatigue, brain fog and reoccurring vaginal thrush. While all of these things definitely amount to enough to take action on, I'm not nearly as sick as some people on this forum.

My digestive problems have almost all cleared up through following the diet, food combining and the bentonite and psyllium, apart from some minor heartburn/acid reflux. Bloating used to be a major problem for me now it's greatly reduced and my bowel movements have greatly improved- alternating constipation & diahhorrea have stopped. That's after only a few weeks on the diet and a week & a half on the bentonite and psyllium. I'm definitely impressed! yippee

Well I guess I've got the die-off to look forward to. Eek I've been waiting until after uni assignments were finished to start anti-fungals. Tomorrow's the day!

Amy,

Great questions! I am looking forward to Tarilee's response, since I too have been wondering about the antifungals.

Lately, I just can't stick to the diet like I used to be able to. I think it's because I've improved so much in the bowel department that now I'm ready to take some chances. Rolleyes

But I've read that you shouldn't take the antifungals at all if you are going to feed the yeast. I don't know how quickly these things can build up a resistance. The last few days I haven't taken an antifungal at all, and I really think I felt better when I was taking it and still cheating.

Tarilee, I know that this program really requires 100% on the diet. But what are we supposed to do on the days we fall off the wagon? Confused

Thanks,
Jenelle

Hi guys,

I think I understand where you are coming from. If you are going to “stray” from the diet protocol I would recommend that you take just the bentonite and psyllium and DDS when you go off the it. If you do this as AmyLou suggested for a couple of days after "feeding" the yeast, then you could go back onto the anti-fungal.

As for the rotation schedule, the three months has proven to be very effective for almost all of the folks I've worked with on the forum. When I am coaching folks, it makes my intervention much more effective if all of our members are on the same schedule. This way I can ask, ‘What phase are you on” and I have a general idea of what kind of treatment they are working on and how they are responding and how that compares to the thousands of others who have been through the Whole Approach program before. The protocol was actually designed by a Colet Lahoz, the author of Conquering Yeast Infections Naturally and when I came on the forum I continued working with folks on this protocol because it works well.

I hope I answered your questions.

Take good care.

Thankyou!

You've answered my questions.

It does make sense alot of sense for everyone to follow the same protocol. I've had a stickybeak into some other forums and the discussions often seem a bit all over the place (and not always that useful) because people are all working with different approaches, diets and products.

Thanks again

Amy,

That's neat that you are being so honest with yourself about the gins. This way when you do have them, you won't feel as if you are cheating and risk "blowing" the rest of the day. Do you know what I mean?

That's how I rationalize it to myself sometimes. Like oh well, i already blew it, why not.... Unsure and that's a dangerous attitude for me! Yes

Thanks Jan,

Your post reassured me as i was thinking that maybe i was coming across as being not very serious about all of this.

am hoping to give up at some point for a few months to make sure i kill all the yeast.
