What are the Five Phases of the Attogram/Lahoz Protocol?

The Attogram Lahoz protocol is a five phase program that was developed by Colet Lahoz and has been successfully used at her clinic, the East West Clinic in Minnesota. The emphasis of this therapeutic protocol is the treatment of Candida Related Complex (CRC as it is referred to on this site), or “Candidiasis as Colet refers it. The protocol is outlined on this web site and in more detail in the book, "Conquering Yeast Infections, the Non Drug Solution for Men and Women" by S. Colet Lahoz (director of the East West Clinic). A brief outline of the Five Phases is listed below and additional details are included with the purchase of the products from this site.

The first phase of Lahoz protocol is largely based the Attogram products which were developed by Andrew Gutauskus, a Canadian Pharmacist and founder of Attogram Corp. The Attogram products include: Caproyl (formerly known as Caprol), Bentonite, and Psyllium. Collectively we fondly refer to this drink as “The Purge Drink.” Therapeutic strength acidophilus products UAS Probioplus or DDS Plus Probiotic are used for the full duration of the protocol and, as of phase three, a prebiotic is added, SBX Soil Based Microorganism

Because the yeast can become resistant to antifungal treatment, it is necessary to rotate the antifungal agents used. According to Colet Lahoz: “The antifungals have to be rotated to address the pleomorphic nature of fungi. Pleomorphism is a phenomenon wherein an organism can change forms in order to survive. Fungi can change to its many forms but does not stay in the new form; it can switch back and forth to its original form. Therefore when treating candidiasis one has to use various types of anti-fungals. I am suggesting these 5 types described here because in my clinical trials they proved most effective compared to others.”

Products that are complementary to the five phase program are sold in the online store and include anti-fungal body care, digestive aids, detoxification support, all natural, additive free nutritional supplements and several topical skincare products for dealing with yeast-related issues.

PHASE I – First three months: Caproyl (liquid caprylic acid) combined with liquid Bentonite , and Psyllium Powder Blend.

The Attogram brand appears to be superior to other brands in quality, purity and effectiveness as well as ease of mixing without getting too thick or lumpy. This formula is the best initial cleanse because of its effectiveness at getting to the root of the yeast overgrowth and because it can minimize the die off symptoms significantly.
Attogram Liquid Caproyl, Attogram Bentonite, Attogram Psyllium and UAS Probioplus or DDS Plus is recommended in this Phase.

PHASE II - Fourth through 6th month: I chose Proseed Liquid Grapefruit Seed Extract Concentrate (GSE) because it is another potent broad spectrum antifungal. This is combined with the other ingredients in phase one and replaces Caproyl. If after the first three months on Caproyl you can claim to be improved up to 80% you may take this mix once a day on an empty stomach, otherwise, continue taking the mix twice a day at the same times you took the Caproyl mix. *** Oreganum Plus can be used as an alternate to GSE. UAS Probioplus or DDS Plus is also continued.

PHASE III - Seventh through 9th month:
They are not included earlier in the program because its potency can cause significant die off if it's used too early. In addition to the Kolorex, Kolorex Extra Strength Gelcaps SBX Soil Based Microorganisms are used with food. UAS Probioplus or DDS Plus Probiotic are also continued.

PHASE IV – Tenth through 12th month
Olive Leaf Extractis the anti fungal for phase IV. It is 100% natural and is antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial with added benefit of being an immune system builder. It works by stimulating your body’s protective cells (phagocytes) to ingest foreign matter. Studies show that this compound has the ability to penetrate infected host cells and it inhibits viral replication.UAS Probioplus or DDS Plus Probiotic and SBX Soil Based Microorganism are also continued

PHASE V – Thirteenth through 15th month – ProSeed Triple Yeast Defense a formula that combines 3 powerful natural ingredients in a unique effective formula: Pau D’ Arco 300 mg, Calcium undecylenate 100 mg. and 40 mg GSE. Undecylenate is an antifungal derived from castor oil, along with Pau D’Arco provide two new forms of antifungals not used in previous rotations that are likely to kill fungal varieties not killed by the ones used in earlier months. ProSeed Triple Yeast Defense Capsules are taken with food. UAS Probioplus or DDS Plus Probiotic and SBX Soil Based Micro Organism are also continued.


NOTE:Variations of the above sequence may be done according to your experience. For example, there are patients who claim that the best cleansing is with Phase I, the Attogram products, and they may do a rotation wherein they go back to Phase I every other phase for one to three months at time. Example: Phase I followed by phase II and back to Phase I before using Phase III, etc., until symptoms are felt to be under control.


NOTES FROM TARILEE

Going Slowly into the Full Program
For those who are adapting to extreme lifestyle and diet change in order to follow the food therapy guidelines here, or for those who are seriously ill, it is sometimes helpful to start the program in steps by beginning with a transition into your customized food therapy program along with Probioplus, Bentonite and Psyllium prior to adding the anti fungal.

On phase one especially, once you are ready to introduce the first anti fungal, increasing the anti fungal dosage bit by bit is helpful. Slowly adding in gradually increasing dosages of psyllium and bentonite is also a good idea for those with slow bowels though otherwise the fibre and clay can be started at full dose.

As for the food changes, some people address them step by step and some make a lot of changes overnight. Youe knowledge of your own ability to adapt to change will be helpful in planning the best transition schedule for you.

Switching to a hypo allergic, cleansing diet can cause some detoxification healing symptoms and can also trigger some food allergy withdrawal symptoms. It's easier to sort these out if they are not complicated with the potential for yeast die off symptoms caused by anti fungals. Delaying the anti fungal will give you a chance to adjust to the other changes. By the time you start the anti fungal/die off process, you will be familiar with how you are responding to these other parts of the program.

Example: Phase I followed by phase II and back to Phase I before using Phase III, etc., until symptoms are felt to be under control.

Getting the Most out of your SBX Experience
When using the SBX, it is important to bolster your cleansing process with the support of the psyllium (and preferably both the psyllium and the bentonite.) SBX continuously catalyses deep colon cleansing and I find it necessary to use the fibre mixture to keep the waste material moving quickly out of the body so that it does not cause fatigue or other problems that could be caused by colon toxicity. This is especially necessary when following the deep cleansing therapeutic protocol mentioned in the online SBX brochure.
